We don't have a doggie at our house because we have baby KaraHe was so serious when he said it - we cracked up.
Second "the event". On our way home from Wal-mart tonight, I almost hit a deer.....in my Cul-de-sac!!! Seriously. I turned the corner and this dear darted out in front of my car and ran into the backyard of my neighbor. We turned our lights on it and it ran around my neighbor's house and then stopped in the front yard. I tried to take a picture with my camera phone, but it was too dark. Am I supposed to call someone? Needless to say, I closed the garage door before I got out of the car - I am NOT a country girl.

You know what this means...Levi will grow up to resent Kara if he never has a dog...
I just sayin'.
You don't have to call anyone about the deer. It's part of living near any wooded area this time of year. As plants become dormant, the deer start foraging and can get pretty far afield. Be watchful for them, especially along any stretch where woods come right up to the road's edge. They can bolt right out of the trees.
I'd recommend not shining your headlights at them intentionally. I stopped and did that the first time I encountered deer while driving, just to get a better look. But I've since learned it's frowned upon by game wardens. Not that you're likely to be nabbed by one in your neighborhood but they can cite you for harassing wildlife with artificial light.
alison honey, it's a DEER - they won't hurt you. :) I've actually seen them several times on Balch around your neighboorhood.
hmmm... try hitting one going about 60 mph on a 2 lane rural highway. ugh. deer is an ugly word to me. glad you are ok!
Don't say "I am not a country girl" --I used to say the same thing, and look where that got me!!! (btw -- I am kind of scared of deer, too, but I at least pretend now that I am not scared of cows...)
