Levi made his daddy VERY proud yesterday when he finally was able to peddle this little Diego trike I found at Target for only $20 (half price!). I naively thought that kids would be able to peddle a bike as soon as they could walk - I was wrong. Let me add that this is bike #4 - Levi & Garet are now tied for number of bikes.
Kara has been quite frustrated lately that she is not big like her brother. As if we don't have enough baby gear around the house, we got her one of those old-fashioned walkers so she could cruise around on our new floors. This is a basic one I found at Wal-mart and she loves it! She has mastered going backwards and can go forwards in short spurts. Of course, Levi likes to push her "full speed ahead" and Kara thinks she is pretty special when he does this.
Garet was able to buy some items from his "bike wish list" (which is on a sticky note on his computer at work). We picked up some new bike shorts for him last night (I won't post a picture) and I'm sure there will be goodies in the mail soon! He has been riding his bike to work for the past few months and loving it. In case you were wondering, this week is "National ride your bike to work week".
Last but not least, I am declaring my Roomba purchase in this category. I am determined to open it TODAY after I convinced my co-worker, Josh, to get one and he has already opened & used his! I also got a new comforter for our bed from Pottery Barn. I had been eyeing the Pick-Stitch Quilt in Sprout for some time now. When we were at my friend Heather's house, she had just bought it for her room, so that sealed the deal! While at the store this weekend, I found out that it had been discontinued. However, they found one comforter in Memphis and the shams in Birmingham...and at clearance prices!!! How exciting is that!?!?! I'll have to post pictures after we get our room together - we've been using the same comforter since we got married 7 years ago and it was time for a change.
So, that is where half our money went. The other half to retirement (you didn't think I'd let Dave down, did you?). I really don't care about your political views on the issue of these checks, but I would love to know what you are doing with your money - the important stuff, right? :) Please tell!

We are going to be paying off as much of the medical bills that the boys racked up in feb/march as possible :) $1000 down, $2000 to go! Whoohoo! I'm trying to convince myself that it will help the economy.....somehow. It goes to the Doctors paychecks, right? And maybe they'll spend it nicely so we can do our part.
Just trying to think positively, lol.
Wow, 4 bikes - that's amazing. We just have one for each child and Isaac calls them motorcycles.
Love the pics!
Please help me to convince Adam to buy me a new SLR camera with our rebate (I have no idea, are we really getting this check?). I think that's an appropriate way to stimulate...love the bikes! And your purchases...I have the pick stitch quilt too - in red. Love it! Classic!
We will be reimbursing our savings accounts from when we PAID taxes in April. So, with the rebate we'll only have net paid the government $1000. Ugh.
So interesting to see how everyone is using the extra money! Good question!
Us? We bought Noah a Little Tikes 8-n-1 playset, paid Josh's latest speeding ticket-ugh, bought some more maternity clothes (as I shrunk half my stuff in the dryer - dumb), some mother's day gifts, diapers of course, gas (yikes) and pocketed the rest...for now. :)
Kimberly
So I heard that if you buy a good car, the money goes to Japan
Anything from Wal-Mart and the money goes to China,
fresh veggies/fruit and the money goes to Honduras, Guatemala, or some other latin America country
so the BEST way to spend your rebate check is at a yard sale, the only business still done in America...
So come out and buy junk, I mean stuff at our yard sale, and then the money will go to Guatemala to pay for our adoptions...
We're putting some of ours in our "house" mutual fund, some in our ROTH IRAs, and using some to travel this summer.
Melodie is hilarious!
I agree with Kimberly - all interesting stuff!
Ashley - it is true! We had ours directly deposited in the bank last Tuesday!
Melodie - I'll be sure to encourage my readers to get out and buy on Saturday!!
it's 9:30 and the roomba is still not open. i bet she won't open it today even after i post this comment.
She didn't open it... and we both only have 3 bikes (and one of Levi's is just where you scoot on the floor).
G-bone, put on some pants and put the Roomba to work!
Secondly, since you don't care what we think about the plan and only how we will "do our part," Lindsey is going garage saling tom. We got the small stimulus since we had so many deductions, being unemployed, and paying our own healthcare for most of 07. But we will put it to work, probably a new desktop computer so Lindsey has a backup in case her laptop dies.
Still no review of the Roomba! Don't make me get in my car and drive down there.
