Several weeks ago, our Awana program at church started advertising for their "Grand Prix" race. Always a kid at heart, Garet immediately went and signed up "Levi" for the race. The two of them had a good time painting and decorating the car. However, Garet had to be gone two weeks and we weren't sure if he would be back in time. He ended up taking the red-eye home and got back just in time to attach the wheels and head to the race.

Because Levi isn't quite old enough for Awana's, he was in the general church category which just so happened to be filled with ladies. Here he is with them getting ready to start:
And they are off! Levi's car won first on the first heat. He was so excited. Because he was the only boy, all the kids were cheering for him. Levi was totally taking it all in and was cracking me up. It was very out of the norm for him - he can be quite shy in situations like this.

This is precious!
And Noah is beside himself seeing these pictures of "Dedi" which in case you can't tell is his way to say Levi.
Congrats to Levi...and Garet!
Levi really wanted to play with the car when we were making it. I kinda felt bad, but I knew if we put the wheels on, it would be trashed by race time. Unfortunately I didn’t notice that the axials were a loose fit on the car. So I had to hot glue them in place that morning. We won the first heat, but after that the car started wobbling down the track. It was still good enough for 3rd though. Levi did a great job painting (which he really liked) and I was impressed by how well he put on all of the stickers. Next year he’ll actually be in Awanas so that will be fun... and maybe Kara will want to do a car :)
Congrats Garet. I mean Levi.
My nephew does this and he loves it.
